The Goal:
To explain why the NGO focuses on education and why donors should care.
Breaking the cycle:
Every year, thousands of young girls in South Africa face a life-altering reality: teenage pregnancy. For many, it marks the immediate end of their schooling. Society often looks at the statistics and sees a dead end. But at Teen Moms, we see a pivotal turning point. We believe that becoming a mother at a young age should never mean the end of a young woman’s education or her dreams.
When a pregnant teenager or young mother drops out of school, the economic consequences are devastating—not just for her, but for her child. Without a matric certificate or tertiary skills, finding stable employment becomes nearly impossible. This traps two generations in a cycle of poverty before the child is even old enough to walk.
Education is the single most powerful tool we have to break this cycle. When we support a teen mother to finish her schooling, we are giving her the leverage to build a career, earn a living wage, and provide a secure future for her baby. Our education programme provides practical assistance, including school fees, uniforms, textbooks, and tutoring, ensuring these brave young women can focus on their studies.
Call to Action:
We invite donors to “Sponsor a Counselling Session” or fund a weekly support group circle. You can be the bridge that keeps a young mother in the classroom. A single donation toward school supplies or tuition fees can rewrite the future of a family.
